PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY
A personal philosophy is an individual’s view of fundamental questions of life such as the meaning, purpose and nature of things. It is a set of guiding principles that we live by. It influences everything from the words you say, to the steps you take, to the items that you will and will not purchase at the store. And individuals conceptualize philosophies in many ways.
The following are illustrative examples.
- ‘Never ever give up.’
- ‘Make people believe in what you are doing.’
- ‘My business is my slave, not my master.’
- ‘Enthuse, exceed, enjoy – enthuse about what you do, try to exceed at it, but above all enjoy it.’
- ‘Don’t procrastinate. If you have an idea that is sufficiently different and you decide to go for it, take massive action.’
- ‘Live every day as if it is your last.’
- ‘If you make a decision, stick by it even if it is wrong. If you keep changing your mind you would never get out of bed.’
- ‘If you don’t ask, you don’t get.’
- ‘You die if you worry, you die if you don’t, so why worry about anything?’
- ‘Don’t fail.’
- ‘Look after people on the way up because you never know when you might meet them on the way down.’
- ‘One day at a time.’
- ‘Treat every day as being really valuable because if you work out how many you get, it is not that many.’
- ‘Don’t think too long and hard about things. Follow your first instinct.’
- ‘You have only one life so live it to the full. No one on their death bed says: “I wish I had spent more time in the office.”’
- ‘The fight goes on. Every time there is adversity in life you must always fight your way back and keep going and keep on trying.’
- ‘You will never get rich working for someone else.’
- ‘A man’s reach should always exceed his grasp.’
- ‘Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.’
- ‘Make the most of life because time is precious.’
- ‘If you look after the pence the pounds will look after themselves.’
- ‘You can only concentrate on one thing at a time.’
- ‘Have no regrets. The worst thing for me is not to try doing something.’
- ‘I have been poor and I have been rich and rich is far better.’
- ‘There is more than one way to skin a cat.’
- ‘Do whatever it takes. And try and be fair with people.’
